01

Local first

Drops stay on your device unless you choose to use Premium cloud backup.

02

Backup controls

You can choose whether photos are included and whether location is less precise.

03

Encrypted backups

Cloud backup content is encrypted and recovery depends on the recovery key.

1. Information DropSpot may collect

Depending on how you use DropSpot, the app may process the following types of information:

  • Drop content: labels, notes, categories, timestamps, photos, and location information that you choose to save in a drop.
  • Photos and camera access: photos you take or select for a drop. Photos are stored locally by default and are only included in cloud backup if you enable that option and use Premium cloud backup.
  • Location information: location attached to a drop, if you allow location access. You may also choose less precise location behavior for cloud backup.
  • Account information: identifiers associated with Sign in with Apple on iOS or Google Sign-In on Android when you choose to sign in for cloud features.
  • Subscription status: information needed to determine whether Premium features are active, handled through Apple App Store or Google Play purchase systems.
  • Diagnostics and analytics: crash reports, app performance, app events, device information, and usage analytics through Firebase Crashlytics and Firebase Analytics.

2. Local storage and cloud backup

DropSpot is local-first. Drops are stored on your device unless you choose to use cloud backup. Free users can create and store drops locally, but photos and metadata are not backed up to the cloud unless the user has Premium and starts a backup.

Premium users may choose to back up drops using DropSpot’s cloud backup feature. Cloud backup is user-initiated and is not meant to happen secretly in the background without your choice.

3. Cloud privacy controls

DropSpot includes cloud privacy controls that let you choose how much information is included in a backup. For example, you may choose to keep photos on the device instead of including them in cloud backup. You may also choose to use less precise location information for cloud backup.

4. Encryption and recovery keys

Cloud backup data is encrypted before it is stored in the cloud. This is designed so that backed-up drop content, including photos if you choose to include them, is not readable as plain content from the cloud storage system.

Recovery requires the appropriate recovery key. If a recovery key is lost or unavailable, some encrypted drops may not be restorable. TEKCO Labs cannot guarantee recovery of encrypted data without the required key.

5. How we use information

We use information to:

  • Provide core DropSpot features, including creating, searching, viewing, deleting, backing up, and restoring drops.

7. What we do not do

  • We do not display ads in DropSpot.
  • We do not sell your personal drop content.
  • We do not provide a public social feed.
  • We do not intentionally make your drops publicly visible.
  • DropSpot does not currently use AI features for automatic naming or other AI processing.

AI-powered naming or similar features may be added in the future. If that happens, this policy will be updated to explain how those features work and what data they process.

8. Data retention and deletion

Drops stored locally remain on your device until you delete them, uninstall the app, clear app data, or otherwise remove them. Cloud backups remain available until they are deleted, replaced, reset, or otherwise removed according to app functionality and service behavior.

You may delete local drops inside the app. You may also visit Delete Account & Data or contact us at tekcosupport@tekcolabs.com for privacy-related requests.

9. Children’s privacy

DropSpot is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us so we can review the issue.

10. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures intended to protect information handled by DropSpot. However, no app, network, or storage system can be guaranteed to be completely secure. You are responsible for maintaining access to your device, account, and recovery keys.

11. International users

If you use DropSpot outside the United States, your information may be processed in the United States or other locations where our service providers operate. By using DropSpot, you understand that information may be processed outside your country of residence.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as DropSpot changes. When we make changes, we will update the effective date above. Continued use of DropSpot after an update means the updated policy applies.

Note: This policy is intended to describe DropSpot’s current privacy practices in clear language. It should be reviewed periodically as app features, cloud behavior, subscription handling, analytics, or legal requirements change.
